PORTFOLIO DATA EMBARGO SYSTEM

[JOHANNESBURG, WEDNESDAY 9 MAY 2007]

ProfileData, the electronic data division of the Profile Group, has improved the control system for delivery of portfolio data to allow fund managers to embargo or restrict the dissemination of data.

The improved ProfileData system allows a fund manager to embargo the release of portfolio data to the public or institutions for a specified number of days after the quarter end (typically 30 days, 45 days or 60 days, although other periods can be selected). Fund managers can also elect to allow dissemination of portfolio data to both the public and institutions, to institutions only, or to neither.

The new system allows ProfileData to maintain a comprehensive database of unit trust portfolios for statistical purposes while still honouring the dissemination preferences of management companies.

The proliferation of unit trust funds has led to increased competition and less willingness on the part of some fund managers to reveal new stock picks and changes in existing positions. ProfileData's new system should help to maintain the availability of portfolio data within the industry while honouring the competitive requirements of fund managers.
